The Cardinals of the Incarnate Word will face the Lady of the Saints of the Lakes in a holiday battle at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday at the Alice P. McDermott Convocation Center. These two teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable losses in their previous matches.
Incarnate Word is heading into this one after punters set last week’s low/low at 143, but even that proved too high. They took a serious blow against Duke on Tuesday, losing 72-46. This was the Cardinals’ lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Incarnate Word’s loss came despite quality play from Jayden Williams, who had seven points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
Unsurprisingly, given the scoreline, Incarnate Word struggled to work together and finished the match with just seven assists. They were smoked by their opponents in that department as Duke racked up 16.
Meanwhile, Lady of Lakes had to hit the road for their first game and unfortunately, the road hit them. They suffered a crushing 88-54 loss to Lamar last Saturday. The Saints haven’t had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short in the last two meetings.
Incarnate Word dropped its record to 5-5 with the loss, which was its ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lady of Lakes, their defeat dropped their record to 0-2.
Incarnate Word defeated Lady of Lakes 83-74 in their previous meeting in January. Does the Word Incarnate have another victory up his sleeve, or will Lady of Lakes turn the tables? We’ll have the answer soon enough.
