Breed cases are increasing in the United States.

Pan American health organization declared the disease eliminated in 2000Thanks to vaccination efforts generalized by the centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But it is always a problem worldwide, which means that a non-vaccinated person could catch highly infectious disease abroad and bring it back to the United States. And Down vaccination rateEspecially in young children, obliges public health officials to worry about the impact of emerging epidemics.

This is the case in western Texas and New Mexico, where A growing measles epidemic now numbers About 300 confirmed cases – More than the total number of measles cases reported in the United States in all 2024.

Currently, health correspondent NPR Maria Godoy Said that the Texas epidemic is still limited to distant rural areas where vaccination rates are low. But measles is very contagious – More infectious than COVVI-19, variole or even ebola. So, if an infected person goes to another community with low vaccination rates, this person could potentially sow another return epidemic.
