Governor Kathy Hochul has a dominant advance in a hypothetical democratic primary in 2026, according to a survey of the Siena College published on Monday.
According to the survey, the governor has the support of 46% of the Democrats, well above the level of support of 11% for Lieutenant-Governor Antonio Delgado and 10% for the representative Ritchie Torres. None of the two announced that they were showing up at the office.
Hochul’s overall favorability (40-50%) and employment approval (46-48%) Given little change of last month survey.
The governor maintains a note of positive approval of employment on three specific questions – protecting constitutional rights, ensuring access to quality, affordable health care and making New York safer, revealed the survey, but is late with a 52% disapproval rate to make New York more affordable.
“Although Hochul’s favorability rating continues to stay in a stubbornly negative territory, where it has been its overall job approval since February from last year,” said Greenberg.
Greenberg said that the presence of “two largely unknown potential adversaries” for Hochul is a major factor in the early positive number for the chances of re -election of the acting governor.
According to the survey, the Delgado’s global favorability rating is 19, 65% not knowing or having an opinion about it. Torres’ favored rating with all voters is 18%, two thirds having no opionine.
Regarding national policy, the overall rating of the employment approval of President Donald Trump increased from 46% to 42% among New Yorkers, according to the survey.
According to the survey, Trump has received negative notes for the unification of Americans, improving America’s reputation abroad and reducing the cost of living, as well as efforts to make Canada the 51st state.
Voters were also divided that they approve of Trump’s actions to repair the country’s immigration system, and the majority of voters approve the work it does to fight fentanyl in the United States, the survey revealed.
“Democrats disapprove of the work that Trump does on each of these questions and three -quarters or more Republicans approves the work he does on each question,” said Greenberg. “The self -employed approves the work that Trump does in six problems and they are closely divided on two others, unifying the Americans and improving America’s reputation.”
Greenberg said Trump’s executive order to make English the official language of the United States is better supported by New Yorkers than two to one, 57-27% and has experienced overwhelming support for Republicans and Independents. The Democrats, however, are closely divided, showed the survey.
The Siena College survey was led from March 2 to 6, 2025 among the 806 registered voters in New York State. It has a global margin of error of +/- 4.3 percentage points.
