The battle on a warm hot source in the Harrison community continues with the government of British Columbia commanding the restoration of so-called Hobo Hot Springs.
The place, not far from the Harrison Resort, where natural hot water is managed from the ground, had been built with rocks and logs by the inhabitants in order to enjoy a free soaking in the desert.
However, last October, We discovered that someone had filled the springs of rocks and dirt.
Harrison mayor Fred Talen said at the time that Harrison Hot Springs Resort was responsible for closing the swimming pools.
“There is a complex here that wants to monopolize Hot Springs’s experience, and that’s bad,” he told Global News on Tuesday.

“These are public public sources, public lands, it is a public resource. I think the public should have access to it. ”
During the weekend, the complex also set up a chain link fence around the site, but the fence was approved by the British Columbia government while the complex was doing restoration work.
Now, the government of British Columbia has ordered that the natural hot source was restored in a more natural state, it was before being filled.
“Our first priority is that they remain in good health, then our second priority is pleasure, well, because we want people to go out and appreciate these areas. When you love natural spaces, you fall in love, then you want to take care of them,” Global News Randene Neill, the Minister of Water from British Columbia, land and resources, told Global News.

Global News contacted the station for an interview but did not hear.
Once the work is finished on hot sources, the fence will be deleted.
Talen also said that he would like to see improvements to the Hot Public Springs, but he said that the station was not open to discussion.
