HIMSS25 Cybersecurity Forum of Health Care: beyond advice and best practices

The HIMSS25 health care cybersecurity forum of this year in Las Vegas will bring together industry leaders to combat the increase in cyberrencies and the need for stronger protections in health care.

Experts will share real information from recent attacks and highlight strategies to strengthen cybersecurity defenses.

In collaboration with the Coordination Council of the Health Sector, discussions will focus on the strategic plan for cybersecurity in the health industry 2024-2029, emphasizing shared responsibility and best practices to improve the resilience in the sector.

The day starts with a session led by Chris Tyberg, president of the HSCC cyber-work group, revealing the Strategic cybersecurity plan for the health industry.

The session will describe a roadmap to move the cybersecurity of health care of a critical risk state to greater stability by 2029.

Tyberg will highlight key strategies to approach emerging cyberrencies, take advantage of advanced technologies and promote international collaboration.

Other subjects will include strengthening IT infrastructure, safeguarding patient data and operational resilience in an increasingly complex threat landscape.

Later in the morning, Josh Howell, CTO of health care in Rubrik, will discuss the Critical role of cyber-resilience To save patient data and provide uninterrupted care.

Although prevention and security are essential, they are no longer enough to protect health care organizations against increasing cyber-men.

This session will explore the key principles of cyber resilience, focusing on rapid recovery strategies after an attack, Howll highlighting the financial, legal and reputation risks of cyber-incidents.

Erik Decker, Vice-President and Ciso at Intermountain Health and Shawn Anderson, Director of Cybersecurity of the Organization will discuss Proactive defense strategies Against cyber-menaces of health care, the rupture of common infiltration tactics used by cybercriminals and the identification of vulnerabilities of initial access to pre-attack stages.

The speakers will also explore the Bell-LaPadula security model and other cybersecurity principles established to strengthen critical IT systems like Active Directory with approaches secure design and secure by default.

Another round table will focus on Protect data integrity and confidentiality standards For secure and interoperable health data.

Johnson & Johnson’s Vice-President of Medtech Security, Ashley Mancuso, will organize a conversation by the fire on Secure medical devices And take up the challenges of cybersecurity in health care. The discussion will cover strategies to mitigate risks, ensure compliance and strengthen resilience in the safety of medical devices.

The last session of the day is a discussion between Erik Decker, Vice-President and Ciso at Intermountain Health, and Nate Couture, Network Avp Information Security and Ciso at the University of Vermont Health Network, on Manage the main ransomware attacks.

They will cover operational challenges, including changes to paper workflows, critical decision points in the restoration of the system and collaboration with the police, and offer an overview of effective recovery strategies, Strengthening the resilience and the application of lessons learned to future threats of cybersecurity.
