Eddie Teorsky, from Harrison, was a must of sporting events of the Highlands High School for almost 40 years before his death at the age of 57 on January 15.
Born with Down syndrome, Teorsky’s popularity within the community has led the followers of Rams Golden to double it “M. Mayor ”, among other complementary nicknames.
In this spirit, the Board of Directors of the Temple of Sports of the Alle-Kiski Valley will present Teorsky the prize for annual courage during the enthronement banquet of this year at 7 p.m. on May 17 at the Pittsburgh Shriners Center in Harmar.
He will be celebrated among a class of seven greats from the region and two out-of-competition teams: Don Frederick, Jonathan Martin, Jodie Vick McCartney and Jaime Vick, Larry Ondako, Nick Reiser, Paul Sapotichne, Mark Schubert, the 1948 Ford City Boys Basketball team and the Kiski 1971 football team.
Trib Total Media will also recognize the local stars of the school: Jayden Floyd de Leechburg, offensive football player from Valley News Dispatch of the year; Conor Selinger of Freeport, defensive football player of the VND year; Milo Chiu de Fox Chapel, Vnd Men’s Men’s Football player of the year; And Briana Ross of Springdale, football player of the year VND.
The Four Cager Classic MVPS and the basketball players VND boys and girls of the year will also be celebrated that evening.
