Henderson State University announced Thursday, June 5, June 5, of the name of his aviation, science and nursing college as a Lorraine and Troy Caver College of Aviation, Science and Nursing, honest Dr. Troy Caver, a former student of 1962, and his late wife, Lorraine, Lorraine.
The name recognizes a planned gift commitment of several million transformational dollars of Dr Caver, representing the greatest inheritance contribution to date in the history of the university.
The gift will strengthen and support critical priorities within the college, including advanced technologies and equipment, new academic programs, student internships and travel, the development of the faculty and the scholarships.
“The love of Dr. Caver for his Alma Mater is obvious in each conversation, each visit and now in this transformational commitment which will leave a lasting heritage in Henderson,” said Dr. Trey Berry, Chancellor of Henderson State University. “Its remarkable generosity will have an impact on the generations of reds – empower students and teachers in aviation, science and nursing for the decades to come. We are deeply grateful to the confidence and confidence of Dr. Caver in the Henderson State University and honored to advance his vision through the Caver College.
Originally from Amity, Arkansas, and a graduate of the Henderson State Teachers College, Dr. Caver built a 20-year-old distinguished military career, retiring as a lieutenant-colonel before becoming an engineer, entrepreneur and executive recognized nationally.
He directed or advised on the main national and aerospace defense projects – including the B -2 bombardier and the international space station – while founding four prosperous companies and managing more than $ 12 million in personal assets.
For more than three decades, Dr. Caver has actively supported Henderson through scholarships, academic enrichment funds and ROTC prices.
“Henderson gave me a solid academic base and an opportunity to achieve,” said Dr. Caver. “The personal attention paid by the faculty of Henderson according to my situation and my needs at the time had an influence on the needs of the needs of others.
In tribute to the inheritance of Dr Caver, the board of directors of the System of the State University of Arkansas approved the name at its meeting on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
An official celebration of Lorraine and Troy Caver College of Aviation, Science and Nursing will take place on the campus of the Henderson State University on Thursday, August 14. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Caver College of Aviation, Science and Nursing of the Henderson State University offers aviation diplomas (professional and management pilot), computer engineering, computer science, engineering (general, electric and mechanical), health sciences, natural sciences (biology and pre-professional studies), nurses and physics.
