A two -year -old was safely rescued by Michigan State police after disappearing for several hours, officials said.
The Department of Public Security of Blackman-Leoni said in a press release that he answered a call on the toddler missing on Saturday evening. The child had been seen last time watching television around 8:43 p.m. local time. About an hour later, the authorities were called and said that the child had disappeared. Darin McIntosh, director of public security of the canton, told CBS News that the call had been made by the parents of the Toddler.
A research effort, including the Blackman-Leoni K-9 unit, the K-9 unit of the Michigan State Police and an MSP helicopter, was launched. Agents of the application of laws and members of the volunteer community also participated in the search, said the ministry.
The child was found safely around 11:33 p.m., the authorities say they have used heat search technology to locate the child. Video Released by Michigan State police Monday, shows the helicopter following a heat signal in a wooded area. The signal was detected about 15 minutes after entering the region, Michigan’s state police said.
“It is in a ditch. I cannot say if he is an animal or the child,” can hear a police soldier from the State of Michigan.
Two officers on the ground were directed to the region, Michigan State police said on social networks. They found the child in a ditch, curled up and carrying only one layer. The toddler was “alert and aware”, but cold, said officials. Soldiers can be seen by holding and comforting the child while walking him towards a pending ambulance.
The toddler was taken to Henry Ford Jackson hospital for evaluation and is “in good condition,” said the Ministry of Public Security.
McIntosh said that the child’s protection services had been informed of the incident and that a report would be submitted to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, which would determine if accusations had been filed against the parents.
“From what we can say, this is a single occurrence or an first occurrence for these people,” said McIntosh.
The canton of Blackman and the canton of Leoni are both located in Jackson County, Michigan. Night temperatures in the county on Saturday were in the 1940s, according to Forecast of the weather site underground. McIntosh said the weather was clear but fast, with an occasional wind, which makes it colder.
The Ministry of Public Security said that “the incident would undoubtedly be ended with a tragedy” without multi-aging research.
