All that Silvana de Oliveira Schramm has always wanted is to become a mother.
She and Cilneu Machado had met in her hometown in Brazil and had moved to Canada in 2014 before getting married.
They welcomed what Machado called “their baby miracle to one percent” Leonardo in 2021.
The little boy was killed last week During a bus stop at Horseshoe Bay when he, his mother and a family friend returned from a day trip to Bowen Island.
The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. on May 28, at the bus stop just outside the BC Ferries feet ticket tickets. Witnesses say that a Translink bus has jumped the sidewalk, hitting several people.
Schramm stays in the hospital where she is on sedation.
Theresa Morrison, owner of the Pizza Brooklyn’s Brooklyn joint where Machado works, organized a gofundme for the family and was in constant contact with them.
“He is obviously not well,” she said about Machado.
“Silvana is still quite intensive at the moment, so we pray for her in the coming days, especially. There have been a lot of trauma.”
