In a few weeks, season three of “The gilded age of HBO” will start to broadcast with Broadway actor Claybourne elder In the role of John Adams.
But let’s not be mistaken: Elder does not play a president. In “The Gilded Age”, he is a dashing gentleman, but rejected with the same name.
Elder will appear in “If the stars was mine”, making two shows on the Memorial Day weekend at Cape Playhouse in Dennis. He played the Cabaret Show at more than 30 audiences closed across the country, including a shorter version last summer at the Mark Cortale Town Hall series.
“He is part of the comedy Standup, the cabaret and the narration. He speaks of working as a very popular Broadway actor, his time on television and shares some of his experiences as a gay father,” said Kirsten Wickson, sales and guest director of the Cape Playhouse.
Elder is married to the artistic director of Cape Playhouse, Eric Rosen. They live in New York with their son and spend summers on CAPE COD, said Wickson.
Tickets, available via Ovationtix.comare $ 30 to $ 80 for the shows at 7 p.m. on Saturday May 24 and at 3 p.m. on Sunday May 25.
Sunday, CAPE COD CENTER FOR THE ARTS holds its annual open day: CAPE PLAYHOUSE gives visits from 1 p.m.; CAPE CINEMA opens at 2:15 p.m. with stories of its history and a chance for people to see the arc of proscenium with the Art Deco mural of Rockwell Kent.
At Cape Playhouse, Rodney Bush will accompany the elder. Bush is a keyboarder and composer, who worked at HBO and is a founding member of the Glamor rock group, Tony & The Kiki.
Elder has recently been seen on Broadway in the award -winning Tony Award of “Company” with Patti Lupone. He also played in “Bonnie and Clyde”, “Sunday in the park with George,” Torch Song “and” Sondheim on Sondheim “. On television, he played Pete O’malley in “The Carrie Diaries” of the CW and can be seen in the characteristic original “Deck the Walls”.
Recently, Elder launched “City of Strangers”, an initiative to provide free Broadway tickets to people who cannot afford it. The project – presented on “This American Life”, “CBS This Morning” and “The Kelly Clarkson Show” – gave more than 3,000 tickets.
“If the stars were mine”, Wickson said: “It’s a beautiful evening with incredible talents and comforting stories.”
