Greenwich Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to “Islands“, After the first of the thriller in Berlin International Film Festival.
The film was co-written and directed by Jan-Ole Gerster, whose previous credits include “A Coffee in Berlin” and “Lara”. He was co-written by Blaz Kutin and Lawrie Dornan, and Stars Sam Riley (“Control”), Stacy Martin (“The Brutalist”) and Jack Farthing (“Spencer”). The film received four nominations to the prestigious Lola Awards – the German Oscar equivalent – including the best film, the best actor, the best original music and the best sound.
The film also marked strong critical opinions during its beginnings in Berlinale with Variety Peter Debruge calling him “fascinating” and many criticisms highlighting the main performance of Martin and Riley.
The film follows Tom, (Riley) a tennis coach in a luxurious island hotel, filling the time between the lessons and the stands of one night. The arrival of a mysterious family withdraws Tom from his normal routing while he establishes a relationship with Anne (Martin), her husband Dave (Farthing) and their son Anton (Dylan Torrell). Tom is unable to shake up the feeling he has already encountered Anne before, and the tension develops between them until a Dave night disappears and the police suspect Tom and Anne.

The previous outings of Greenwich include Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarelyi, “Solo Libre” and “Free to You” by Jimmy Vasarhelyi, with Elliot Page. Greenwich has just released “Hello sadness” from Durga Chewbose, with Lily Mcinerny, Claes Bang and Chloë Sevigny
“Islands” was produced by Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo to the associate producer Katrin Kreppel and to executive producers Jonathan Saubach, Simon Stein, Klaus Dohle, Adrià Monés, Maud Petit and Charles Collier. The co-producers include Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, Max Conradt, Cosima von Spreti, Marcos Kantis, Martin Lehwald and Jan-Ole Gerster. The film was co -produced by Leonine Studios and Schiwago Film.
The agreement was negotiated by the Greenwich co -president, Andy Bohn, with Lina Brown by Protagonist Pictures representing the filmmakers. Protagonist Pictures manages world sales alongside sales of Aunschein.
