Efficiently
California leads to the effort to implement AI and other technologies in government government operations, quickly adopting projects thanks to its new method of innovation in terms of supply, requires innovative ideas (RFI2). RFI2 allows the State to quickly test technology in safe and secure environments, providing the state and innovator with precious information while protecting state data. RFI2 was adopted by the State in 2019, after Governor Newsom sought to improve the process of buying the expensive state and to help the State to adopt these new technologies more effectively.
Conduct engagement
Governor Newsom has also implemented new technologies through the Data and Innovation Office, including the new California Hurged California project. This digital democracy platform for the first word is currently used to help the community in restoring Los Angeles forest fires. Today, Governor Newsom will also organize a round table in the Los Angeles region to meet the full stakeholders in the California project committed – and to discuss projects for the expansion of the State.
“We are committed to exploiting the latest technologies to better serve the Californians. With Genai, we improve government services while showing the advantages that this Californian industry can bring to governments around the world. ” Secretary of the California Government Operations Agency Nick Maduros
Projects in the future today understand:
Genai to reduce the congestion of highways
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has published a problem declaration to process and interpret complex data to improve its analysis of traffic models, process the bottlenecks and improve the overall traffic management. To solve this problem, Azure Open AI, Genai Technology developed by Microsoft and used by Accenture, LLP, used a large amount of data from authentic and well -recognized sources to analyze potential transport scenarios and develop solutions, including reduction in traffic congestion, improving the response to incidents and improving the reliability of transit.
The next phase of this project will analyze the road and historical data of roads to predict the bottlenecks of traffic, will detect incidents faster and identify the locations of safety improvements. This advanced solution will allow Caltrans to improve mobility and reduce traffic delays through the state.
“California is a world leader in innovation in Genai, and the signing of these contracts offers the State an essential tool to help resolve some of our most urgent transport challenges. Under the direction of Governor Newsom, California enthusiastically advanced this advanced technology and will now use its power to help save lives and rationalize mobility for all people. ” The Secretary of Transport in California Toks Omishakin
Genai for traffic safety
Caltrans will also use the Genai to study loved ones fails of injuries / deaths to identify risky areas and monitor interventions designed to increase the safety of road users, including cyclists and pedestrians. Under the contract, Deloitte Consulting, LLP used Gemini Genai technology to help identify high -collision locations and recommended targeted safety improvements through the road system to proactively resolve road safety risks – in particular for vulnerable road users.
By analyzing various sets of data – including accident registers, road conditions and equity indicators – Genai discovered models, hierarchical the security interventions and delivered data -based information to help the department better protect all Californians on the road. In the next phase, the tool will extend data sets to better identify and respond to locations that need safety upgrades that will be assessed by the ministry before taking measures.
“These historical contracts illustrate the commitment of Caltrans to innovation and as a national leader in the adoption of new technologies to improve life and communities. The use of Genai thanks to intelligent and responsible implementation will change the situation in the development of solutions to facilitate traffic and reduce serious deaths and injuries on our roads. ” Director of Caltrans Tony Tavares
Genai to improve customer service
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) will use Genai to quickly search for more than 16,000 pages of reference equipment and help staff provide answers to taxpayers by phone and live.
During a pilot project carried out in the last 10 months, Claude, a new generation AI assistant developed by Anthropic, was used by Symsoft Solutions LLC to reduce the time necessary to manage an average CDTFA customer survey. As a rule, during periods of cutting -edge tax deposit, 280 other members of the ministry personnel are temporarily reassigned to provide a backup to the call center. With this new technology, the CDTFA will be able to continue to provide excellent customer service while limiting the need for disruption of staff reallocates.
“California shows that Genai can help us improve the way we do business for Californians. This project will serve as a point of evidence to follow to see if we can evolve this technology through the call centers of the government of the State. ” CDTFA director, Trista Gonzalez.
Genai, California Way
California will continue to implement Genai for the benefit of all Californians, presenting additional challenges and calling for new Genai projects by AI innovators. The second round brings the state closer to the use possibly of Genai for operational efficiency in accommodation, labor planning and invoice analysis. The work is underway and the state plans to finish this second round by the summer of 2025.

“Seiu Local 1000 believes that technology should raise workers, not to push them. As the state explores the generator, we are committed to guarantee that this innovation strengthens public services and protects from good union work. We support the development of solid backups that promote how these tools are developed and used, “said Local seiu 1000 chief Susan Rodriguez.
Genai for productivity
In response to the governor’s executive decree to help implement AI solutions to make the government of the State more efficient, effective and productive, the State is now implementing additional AI solutions for state departments. The State recently launched a digital assistance tool from the state of the first country through California Department of Technology, which will be provided to eight state departments thanks to a pilot program. The departments will use the tool via a pilot program to test how Genai can help increase productivity by helping staff to develop images quickly and summarize and analyze state data.
California has also deployed the Microsoft 365 co -pilot cat for state departments, which is free for the state for the pilot period. Copilot Chat is a Genai assistant to improve staff productivity by rationalizing information analysis, helping to create content, answering questions, etc.
Operating the power of AI
AI is already Change the worldAnd California will play a central role in the definition of this future. Housing Silicon Valley and the birthplace of the technological industry, California continues to dominate as the leader of AI. The state is home to 32 of the 50 best IA companies in the world.
In addition to California’s efforts to deploy the Genai in the government of the State, Governor Newsom co-organized a Summit Genai In May 2024, with leaders of a university, industry, civil society and government to discuss how the State can best use this transformative technology on behalf of Californians.
First effort of its kind with NVIDIA
In August 2024, the state joined Nvidia to launch a Collaboration of the first AI of its kind. The initiative, signed by Governor Gavin Newsom and the founder and CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, aims to train students, educators and workers; support job creation and promote innovation; And use AI to resolve challenges that can improve the lives of Californians.
Stay ahead of threats
