Google recently revised websites and made other adjustments to minimize its commitment to health equity, the last example of an eminent company repositioning its work after the attack by President Trump against diversity, equity and inclusion.
Google has presented its efforts for years to advance equity in health, but since January, the company began to modify its health website to remove the term and other languages around the idea of fighting social, economic and others that contribute to the disparities in health results for different population groups. An examination of statistics has shown that the “Equity in Health” page of the company has been retired by “health optimization” and that the world head of health of health health, Heather Cole-Lewis, has a new title: the world head of health optimization.
Earlier, Google’s health website said that “our basis is a dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion”, but it is now profesing to “improve health for everyone, everywhere”. Previously, the company said that it “worked to advance health equity and have an impact on the engines of the structural and social determinants of health”, and now it “works to have an impact on non -medical engines of health”.
