Gannett launches USA Today Studio IX, a new women’s sports vertical

For decades, USA Today covered the biggest moments in female sports. Now we are launching a notch with USA Today Studio IX, presented by Cisco

For more than four decades, USA Today has provided our audience a first row seat for some of the biggest moments in female sports – Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups, Mars madness and beyond.

Now we kick a notch with the launch of today USA Today Studio IX Presented by Cisco, our new vertical content that will highlight the power of female sports thanks to in -depth and unique narration, dynamic events and extended multimedia content. This new community for female sports is based on the power of the USA Today network, which includes USA Today and more than 200 local publications across the country.

“In recent years, we have seen a considerable increase in the interests of readers for our women’s sports coverage,” said Roxanna Scott, editor -in -chief of USA TODAY SPORTS, editor -in -chief. “While covering some of the biggest names in sport, such as Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Paige Bueckers, Caitlin Clark and Juju Watkins, to emerging high school athletes who will be the next generation of stars, we see the demand for coverage that goes beyond the surface.”

The launch of Studio IX coincides with the day of the WNBA Draft 2025Where USA Today will have journalists on the orange carpet and inside the hangar in Hudson Yards in New York while the Dallas wings select the first choice.

USA Today will celebrate the launch of Studio IX Monday evening with a WNBA Draft watch evening on invitation only in partnership with the New York LibertyWNBA title champions. The pop-up viewing party, sponsored by Cisco and Taboolawill be held in a property developed by Avenue In the Brooklyn Park Slope district, NY.

Beyond a digital content center, USA Today Studio will work to create a lasting impact in female sports through increased coverage, community pop-up events and enlightened leadership in the industry. Sports departments often lead innovation and experimentation in editorial rooms, and USA TODAY Studio IX will bring this to a new level.”
