Premier of Alberta Danielle Smith spent Saturday evening at Mar-a-Lago in Florida with US President-elect Donald Trump.
In a statement to X, Smith said she had the opportunity to meet Trump at the resort and then at his golf club on Sunday morning.
“We had a friendly and constructive conversation during which I highlighted the mutual importance of the U.S.-Canada energy relationship, and specifically how hundreds of thousands of American jobs are supported by exports Alberta Energy Corporation,” Smith wrote in the release.
“I was also able to have similar discussions with several key allies of the new administration and was encouraged to hear their support for a strong energy and security relationship with Canada.

Smith said on behalf of Albertans, she will continue to engage in dialogue and constructive diplomacy with the new U.S. administration.
“The United States and Canada are proud, independent nations with one of the world’s most important security alliances and the greatest economic partnership in history,” added Mr. Smith.
