Lara in the Senate?
President-elect Trump is pressuring Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to nominate his daughter-in-law Lara Trump to fill Sen. Marco Rubio’s seat in the Sunshine State, Fox Digital has learned.
President-elect Trump nominated Rubio as secretary of state last month, leaving it up to DeSantis to name a successor to the post. DeSantis said last month that he would likely name his pick for the seat in early January.
Speculation has grown in recent weeks that Lara Trump would be a likely choice for the role, as Republican lawmakers such as Senators Rick Scott, Lindsey Graham, Katie Britt and Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida have expressed support for that she replaces Rubio in the Senate.
