Students cover the East Regional Male NCAA tournament.
After sending four students to Madison Square Garden in early March for the Big East tournament, Seton Hall Sports media center I chose four lucky students to cover the male NCAA East Regional tournament at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The students of Seton Hall Nick Diblasi, Brian Henderson, Tim Lang and Jackson Shank were selected by the Pirates program in the field to assist and cover the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, with Duke, Alabama, Arizona and Byu. Henderson and Diblasi – Majors of visual and sound media – recorded pre -match content for the Center for Sports Media on the @HallsportsMedia Instagram account before the Sweet 16 and the elite eight.
Throughout the games, Lang, a major majority and junior sound media, was on the ground taking photos. “Being on the verge of the court on the largest scene of university basketball was a great experience,” said Lang. “The Center for Sports Media does an excellent job to integrate students into real world events and the Eastern region could not have been better. Working in these environments will not continue to help me prepare for my career once I graduated from Seton Hall. ”
Before Duke accepts Alabama in the Eight Eight, Shank, a major in senior journalism, was able to interview the star leader of Alabama, Mark Sears. “Working in the East Regional has been an incredible experience,” said Shank. “I had unrivaled access to players and coaches thanks to the Center for Sports Media. The highlight of the tournament for me was to sit in mind with all-American Mark Sears before his match with Duke. We talked about his historical performance against Byu, how he had planned to attack Duke differently and his nickname of March Sears. It was an experience of all that I have ever done in the field of sports media and I am grateful for the center for the sports media for giving me this opportunity. »»
After another dominant performance against Alabama in Elite Eight, Duke obtained a ticket for San Antonio and a place in the Final Four. After the end of the match, the students were in the prudential central court during the presentation of the trophy and the net cup.
Diblasi, which also covered the Big East for pirate tournament on the field, was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to cover this unique event.

Jackson Shank, a major in senior journalism, interviewing the Alabama star leader, Mark Sears.
“I would first like to thank BJ Schecter and Matt Sweeney for the opportunity to be part of the magic at the Prudential Center,” he said. “As a person who grew up watching university basketball, attending the presentation of the trophy and the first-hand net was a fantastic experience that I will always remember. It is not every day that you can share the court with stars such as Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel.
The first year of the Pirates in the field has already been a huge success, but it has not yet been done. Lang and Shank will go to San Antonio to cover the last four from April 5 to 7.
