Fort Bragg, NC – The Fort Bragg Sports Spring Season in 2025 was launched on April 12 with an edifying opening ceremony that brought together athletes, families and supporters in cold and winding morning conditions at the NCO Academy area. The event highlighted the values ​​of teamwork, sporting spirit and personal growth that are at the heart of the season.

“It is an honor on behalf of our nation, the army, the MWR and Fort Bragg to recognize our young people for their dedication and their commitment to support the services to the young people of the child,” said Colonel Chad Mixon, commander of Garrison de Fort Bragg. “The time and efforts you have spent preparing for your sport reflect something of true value, something really significant.”

The ceremony began with an invocation, where the role of sport as a means of teaching commitment, respect and unity was underlined. Opening prayer requested blessings for athletes, coaches and families, calling for a better time, positive attitudes and sustainable friendships throughout the season. The message reminded everyone that sports are more than simple games; These are opportunities to grow as individuals and as a community.

The athletes proudly represented their teams, including the cubs, the bads, the trash pandas and many others, because they were presented to cheers and applause. The coaches were invited to celebrate with their teams with enthusiasm, giving a tone of excitement and camaraderie.

“For athletes, I encourage you to listen carefully and to embrace to be coachable when you learn the importance of teamwork and fundamental values,” said Mixon. “These lessons will not only improve your performance in sports, but will also prepare you to become responsible and impactful citizens.”

Notable contributors to the event included Margaret Lilly, chief of children and youth services, Piper Taylor, director of Cys Sports & Fitness, Germaine Baldwin, administrator of CYS. The NCO Academy, represented by two sergeants, provided music and sound, adding to the dynamic atmosphere of the ceremony and the garrison commander.
