Friday, a former journalist and anchor of Fox Sports and Anchor filed a complaint against the network and the senior manager of Charlie Dixon, saying that he had sexually assaulted her after having in love with his hotel room to discuss the Super Bowl plans in 2016 and was then pushed back from work to fight.
Julie Stewart-Binks declared in her complaint, filed at the Superior Court of the County of Los Angeles, which she had been inspired to speak after a Former hairdresser for Fox Sports Placed a legal action on January 5 saying that a former host had made repeated unwanted sexual advances to her and that Dixon had stained her.
Andrew Fegyveresi, spokesperson for Fox, said in an email that complaints had been processed.
“These allegations come from over eight years ago,” said his email. “At the time, we quickly hired a third -party business to investigate and addressed the question according to their conclusions.”
Fegyveresi did not respond to a request to explain what the investigation found or how their results were discussed.
The Associated Press generally does not identify those who say they have been sexually assaulted or subject to abuse, unless they have given permission to identify them. Stewart-Binks lawyers said she had given the AP permission to use her name.
Stewart-Binks covered football and hockey in Canada and moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to join the Fox Sports 1 team, the trial said. She was invited to cover the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games as a host and returned to report on the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL, the Stanley Cup qualifiers and the national male football teams and American women. In the fall of 2014, she was the main journalist for the Anaheim ducks.
Jamie Horowitz became president of Fox Sports in May 2015 and hired Dixon two months later to be executive vice-president of the content, the trial said. “The two had the power to choose who would be in front of the camera for the networks,” said the trial.
In the accumulation of the 2016 Super Bowl, plans were underway for the program “Jason Whitlock’s House Party by the Bay” and Stewart-Binks was informed that it was going to appear in the program, said the trial. At night before her meeting with the show team, she received an SMS from Dixon asking her to meet him at her hotel, said the trial.
According to the trial, Dixon told him that they had to talk about the show, then began to reprimand it, saying that he did not want her to go to the Super Bowl because she was not “funny, interesting or talented ”. He said that she was not “able to manage great moments on television” and that people would only watch if she went up to the bar and removed her top, “said the trial.
While Stewart-Binks rushed to find an answer that would show his talent, Dixon invited her to his hotel room to see the view from his balcony, according to the costume. She reluctantly accepted. But once on the balcony, Dixon pushed him against the wall, pinned his arms, pressed his body against his and tried to force his tongue in his mouth, said the trial.
Stewart-Binks pushed it back and ran from the room, said the costume. She said nothing about this at the team’s super bowl meeting the next day and was confirmed to appear on the Whitlock Show. However, she was told that she had to face the tight winger of the Patriots of New England Ron Gronkowski about his passage in a stripper at the University.
She resisted the idea of asking for her “magic micro” movements, but after the comments of Dixon the previous night, she wanted to prove that she could be fun, so she asked for a dance on the Tour, said the trial.
Stewart-Binks said that she had faced an immediate reaction on the social networks of people who said she was going back to women through her actions.
“Following the direction of Fox, Stewart-Binks remained silent outwards, although the assault of Dixon and the representation of the media of it made a deep emotional toll and left it in tears most of the time “Said the trial.
It only became public after having seen the trial brought by the former Fox hairdresser who made similar complaints. The Stewart-Binks trial requests unpertified damage for emotional distress and requests that Fox be required to take measures to prevent any current or future sexual abuse.
“Ms. Stewart-Binks hopes that by looking for justice, and by doing it publicly, sports networks will recognize the need to rid those who abuse power and those who protect them,” said the trial.
Since leaving Fox Sports, Stewart-Binks has worked for many media, including ESPN, CBS Sports, NBC Sports and TNT. It was also corresponding to the CBC in Canada during its cover of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
