Former Chancellor Samuel Mencoff ’78 P’11 P’15 – who directed the Brown Corporation from 2016 to 2024 – will chair the Burown University Health’s board of directors from December 9, the hospital system announced Earlier this month.
This decision follows an affiliate and investment enlargement agreement between the university and the hospital system announcement Last summer. Under this agreement, the hospital system, which was previously known as a lifespan, was renamed Brown University Health.
Mencoff is currently a signs on the board of directors of Brown Corporation and the board of directors of Brown Health, but its mandate on the company will end on June 30. The extension agreement stipulates that individuals cannot simultaneously as a member of the company and chairman of the Brown Health Board of Directors, according to the University of the University of Brian Clark.
Mencoff was a founding partner and co-PDG of Madison Dearborn Partners, and he is currently Chairman and CEO of Temple Hall Group. He also occupies other management positions through national councils such as the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, the Art Institute of Chicago and the John Carter Brown library.
“His deep ties with Brown and his experience at the intersection of business, health care and education make him only qualified to guide our system well in the future,” said John Fernandez, president and chief executive officer of Brown Health, in the press release.
