Five scientific terps awarded graduate research scholarships from the National Science Foundation in 2025 | IT, mathematics and natural science college

Five current students and former alumni of the computer college, mathematical and natural sciences of the University of Maryland (CMNS) were prestigious Research scholarships graduated from the National Science Foundation (NSF)Who recognize exceptional graduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

This year’s winners are:

  • George Li (BS ’24, mathematics; BS ’24, IT), Carnegie Mellon University
  • Tesia Shi (BS ’23, Biological Sciences; BS ’23, Psychology)
  • Adam YangMAJOR IN IT
  • Grant Yang (BS ’23, biological sciences), Harvard University
  • Mary Yilma (BS ’21, Mathematics; BS ’21, Economy), Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The NSF graduate research scholarship program ensures the quality, vitality and strength of scientific and engineers in the United States. The five -year scholarships provide three years of financial support, including an annual allowance of $ 37,000.

Since 1952, NSF has funded more than 60,000 higher research scholarships on more than 500,000 candidates. At least 42 scholarship holders have become the winners of the Nobel Prize, and more than 450 have become members of the National Academy of Sciences.
