(Exclusive) Netflix deploys a new way to watch your favorite shows and films if you are a spectator who keep the subtitles At the bottom of your screen.
The streaming giant launches a new subtitle option on Thursday that allows the spectator to look at the content with original language subtitles which show only the dialogue spoken without audio indices, according to a press release.
Before this new dialogue option only, viewers choose to look at content with subtitles in the original language would choose the deaf and hard of hearing option (SDH / CC), which includes dialogue subtitles and audio indices-think of notations of “buzzing by phone” or “dramatic music”-as well as songs of song and / or speakers.
This new capacity will be available not only in English, but in each language that Netflix offers in addition to the SDH / CC option. In addition, viewers are also able to personalize the police in which the subtitles are displayed.
CNN previously reported that according to a Survey 2023 by YougovAlmost 40% of American respondents preferred to watch television in a language on which they speak with the subtitles, which makes Netflix’s new functionality an option more than opposed to the public.
According to the study, people using subtitles have cited two main factors to do it: improve their general understanding and help them understand accents.
This will be more than useful for English-speaking viewers in the United States, opting to activate subtitles for some of their favorite British programs, such as “Baby Reindeer” from Netflix and “Peaky Blinders”.
Netflix had already taken note of the consumption habits of its viewers before announcing the new dialogue subtitle functionality only on Thursday by increasing the number of films and series which support the SDH and audio description options (AD). The streamer said Thursday that almost half of all hours of vision on his platform in the United States occur with subtitles or legends.
The new subtitle feature only dialogue will make its debut with the fifth and last season of the Romance-Thriller series by Streamer “You”, all the episodes of which were published on Thursday, and will be available for all new Netflix originals in the future.
