Specialty distributor Fathom Events is changing its name starting in 2025, bolstered by record 2024 revenues of more than $145 million. The company, jointly owned by AMC Theaters, Cinemark Theaters and Regal Cinemas, grew revenue 45% over last year and aims to continue to be the leader in live and recorded content, with a healthy dose of special commitments and event cinema. , in 2025, when it will operate under the name Fathom Entertainment.

The company’s 2024 was marked by the success of the re-release of “Coraline”, which grossed over $34 million, and the series “The Chosen” which grossed over $32 million at the box office. office and “The Blind,” which grossed more than $17 million. .

“The Blind,” a biopic of “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson, marked a shift in distribution strategy as Fathom pushed for the film to be shown in theaters for more than six weeks after initial release seven days exhausted.

And on the back of “Coraline,” Fathom CEO Ray Nutt previously told TheWrap he was meeting with various studios looking for Fathom to do for their catalogs what Fathom did for the stop-motion animated film.

“Consumer enthusiasm and adoption of specialty content in theaters resulted in Fathom’s most profitable year ever,” Fathom CEO Ray Nutt said in a statement, while noting that audiences looking for something unique to bring to the cinema.

Fathom remains committed to pushing boundaries and providing audiences with unforgettable experiences and will cautiously look to build on our success with new content opportunities in the future,” he continued.
