Breaststroke Entertainment (recently renamed Fathom Events) called on Eric Beckerformer long-time news chief at Starz, as head of communications.

He will report to Vice President of Marketing Shannah Miller and will be responsible for overseeing all of the company’s external communications activities, including strategic media relations, corporate communications and advertising campaign programming. He replaces Colette Carey, who left the group at the end of last year.

Becker spent more than 18 years at Starz from the late 1990s until 2017 after Lionsgate acquired the pay TV network, serving as senior vice president of corporate communications. Subsequently, he ran his own public relations consultancy, Becker PR, working primarily on behalf of media, entertainment and technology companies. After Starz, he also worked as a senior vice president at ICR, a strategic communications consulting firm.

“Fathom Entertainment “I am excited to have Eric join our team in this chapter of transformation in time for the company and while experiencing such significant changes for the industry as a whole,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom.

Denver-based Fathom Entertainment, jointly owned by major exhibitors AMC Entertainment, Cinemark and Regal/Cineworld, is the world’s leading specialty distributor of live and pre-recorded content for cinemas. He made his name bringing the Met Opera to the big screen, but has expanded to a range of events, special engagements, films and episodic content. It operates in 45 countries and has a live digital broadcast network of more than 1,100 locations.
