Police arrested two men suspected of roles in a false taxi flow and a credit card scam previously reported in Burnaby and Abbotsford, in British Columbia
Metro Vancouver Transit police said they caught the suspects more than two months ago and have now recommended charges.
Police said the crooks used a black vehicle with a rooftop taxi to dive people to put their debit and credit cards.

One of the fraudsters pretends to be a taxi driver, while the other poses a client having trouble paying their price which approaches the victims to request their aid to cover the cost. When a victim offers his card, the crooks exchange it for a false.
In a press release, the transit police said that police had spotted a Hyundai Elantra which corresponded to the description of the swindle vehicle near the Skytrain Surrey Central station.

“The police observed that the passenger came out of the vehicle and placed a yellow” taxi “sign on the Hyundai roof, before returning while the vehicle was leaving for Sfu Surrey. Given these observations, the police suspected that the occupants were preparing to seek more victims, “the police said.
“When the police tried to stop the vehicle, the Driver of the Hyundai hit an unmarked transit police vehicle.”

The police arrested the driver and the passenger, who are both from Ontario, and entered 29 debit and credit cards, a debit card payment machine and a magnetic taxi panel.
The two suspects were released pending approval of the costs.
