
Jessica Backman-LevyPHD, Associate Professor of Brown School in Washington University in St. Louis; And BERYNE ODENYMD, PHD, deputy professor of surgery in the Division of Public Health Sciences At Washu Medicine, were selected to participate in a one -year program to advance women in management positions in global health.
Backman-Levy and Odeny will join Health of Haut-le-HautCohort of the North 2025 of the leadership course. This fully funded leadership initiative, which is fully funded over 12 months, provides women in the career as a mentoring tools, coaching and leadership development to improve their impact in the world health sector. The program offers participants access to a diversified network of peers, mentors and experts while helping them refine their presence and advocacy strategies in terms of leadership.
Backman-Levy’s research focuses on the intersection between sex, poverty and global maternal and child health. It aims to identify culturally appropriate interventions which promote gender equality and to improve reproductive health and development results. Backman-Levy is also a teaching center researcher at the Public Health Institute and member of the Global Advisory Committee of the School.
Odeny is doctor-scientist and global expert in public health. With expertise in implementation and population sciences, it conducts research focused on lung cancer, prevention of cardiovascular disease and the integration of routine cancer screening among high -risk populations. His work uses a variety of research approaches, including quasi-expressary conceptions, mixed methods and community participatory research, to understand and treat health disparities in cancer care continuum.
