Six cities of Colorado recognized in a national survey to offer rest, beauty and personal renewal
Estes park, colo. – Estes Park was named the best location of Colorado – and n ° 28 in the country – for an increasing trend in the lifestyle known as “micro -retirement”, according to a new survey carried out by the global career development company. The investigation highlights the places where Americans want to take prolonged breaks of their careers to rest, reflect and reconnect.
Micro-retirement, a concept gaining popularity on a national scale, does not consist in leaving work permanently. Instead, it is a question of intentionally moving away from the workforce for several months or more to recharge, often in picturesque and peaceful destinations like those found in northern Colorado.

Estes Park has won the best notes for its serene alpine beauty, its community charm and its easy access to the natural wonders of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The respondents in the survey praised the calm river of the city, quiet hikes around Lake Bear and a general feeling of reconnection with nature.
Five other cities in Colorado have also established the list of the 150 main micro-retirement destinations:
- Manitou Springs (# 41) – Known for its mineral sources of healing and its artistic city center.
- Telluride (# 53) – A cultural hub surrounded by spectacular mountain views.
- Pagosa Springs (# 60) – Housing the deepest geothermal hot sources in the world.
- Crestone (# 71) – A spiritually rich city nestled at the foot of Cristo’s blood mountains.
- Carbondale (# 88) – A creative and outdoor city near Mount Sopris.
The national survey, carried out among 3,007 American workers, revealed that micro -retirement is more than prolonged leave – it is a deliberate rupture of daily milling. Almost a quarter of respondents said they would take 4 to 6 months off if they could, while additional 24% would go for a year or more.
The main motivations for micro-retirement included travel and exploration (26%), health and well-being (23%) and rest (21%). Financial concerns remain the most important barrier, 50% of participants citing money as the main reason why they did not pursue a break.
While Hilo, Hawaii took first place on a national scale, the natural beauty of Colorado, relaxed communities and access to outdoor leisure activities continue to make it a convincing place for people looking for a renewal, whether they are between careers, after professional exhaustion, or simply in search of a slower rate of life.
