First row asked ESPN Associate Director of Sports Business Development and Innovation Jeff Ghiringhelli about the ESPN tailgate in Meta Horizon.
What is ESPN’s goal with ESPN Tailgate?
Our goal for ESPN Tailgate on Meta Horizon is to continue to advance innovation at ESPN, creating an engaging environment for sports fans to play games and consume immersive ESPN content. It’s been an exciting development process with Meta, and it’s been very cool to see ESPN Tailgate evolve and take the form it has today. We are all very proud of the final product.
How does an initiative like this open the doors for ESPN to do more in this space?
ESPN Tailgate provides a living, breathing space for ESPN and Meta to constantly update and evolve, and can also provide a testing ground for future opportunities with new technologies. We would also like to explore collaboration opportunities with our amazing league and conference partners to help make ESPN Tailgate a destination for all sports fans.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We’re really excited to continue collaborating with Meta in the immersive category through ESPN Edge, and there’s no limit to what we can achieve. Between this launch and our many highlights of ESPN VR on Meta’s Xtadium sports app, we’re making our mark in this category with many more to come.
