From athletes outside of secondary competition to successful coaches to media members, the Fame of the Fame of Sports of ERIE of 2025 has a variety of different enthronements.
The course includes Wally Bluas, Jody Burrows, Joe Orengia, Tom Reisenwer, Kelli Rohan, Dave Stoczynski, Fred Vickey and Cleve Wright, while Jim Lecorchick will be gone posthumous.
The enthronement ceremony is scheduled for June 25 at Zem Zem Shrine Club.
Class of 2025 laureates
- Bluas was an out -of -competition football player at IUP and is a member of the IUP sports fame. He also spent 40 years in the PIAA, including 32 years as chairman of the District 10 Committee.
- Burrows excelled in basketball and softball in Corry when she scored more than 1,000 points in her basketball career. She continued at Division I Northeastern and is an assistant coach of Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles.
- Orengia has more than 630 power of power, including 61 national championships and 56 gold medals. He has more than 300 career records in national, national and international competitions, while leading to powerlifting for over 25 years.
- Reisenweber has covered local sports for almost two decades for the Times-News and was a finalist or winner of 38 prizes, including national prices from Gannett and the editor and the publisher and the George Heaslip Award for the best member of the PSAC media. He recently received the president’s prize at Mercyhurst Prep.
- Rohan was a softball player three times for McDowell and finished with 82 stolen career bases despite most of his first year with an injury. Rohan then broke the school records of the I St. Bonaventure division, including 32 stolen bases as a senior.
- Stoczynski was an out-of-competition basketball player in Gannon who was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1974. He played abroad for several years before returning to Erie to also become a football coach, official basketball and sports director.
- Vickey has been part of the swimming scene in Erie for over 60 years. In addition to becoming a notable swimming coach, he led the District 10 swimming championships for more than 40 years while being official. He also launched the ERIE Swim Officials Association.
- Wright was a large part of the success of the Gannon women’s basketball program. In 17 seasons with Gannon, he ends on 400 victories and is the most winning coach of the program. He also spent four years as a chief coach of division I Miami (Ohio). He was appointed coach of the year several times by various associations and led Gannon to the elite eight several times in his mandate.
- Lecorchick has spent decades dedicated to coaches, athletes and fans of Erié Sports. He played baseball at Cathedral Prep and Gannon, but continued to cover sports for Erie Times-News and on the radio too. He called the university football and basketball matches at the Lycée on the radio and was the best host in Erie with regard to local sports discussions.
