Entertainment lawyer Steve Weaver passes

Steve Weaver

Entertainment lawyer Steve Weaver died on April 12 after a battle with posterior cortical atrophy, a rare form of Alzheimer’s disease. He was 76 years old.

Weaver had a 40 -year career as an entertainment lawyer in Memphis and Nashville. In his early years, he was also a musician, songwriter, guitar instructor and entertainment agent. After obtaining his law degree, Weaver moved to Atlanta and was an employee as assistant professor and director of the Georgia State University sales / registration program. Later, he started his private cabinet, the law firm by C. Stephen Weaver, in 1983, with offices in Memphis and Nashville. In 1995, he moved all offices to the Nashville music line. He was a partner of the Streetlight Management artist management company from 2008 to 2010.

Throughout his career, he was a member of the American Bar Association, of the Tennessee Bar Association, of the Nashville Bar Association, of the Country Music Association, of the Academy of Country Music, of the Gospel Music Association, of the Copyright Society of the South and Nashville Songwriter’s International Association.

Weaver is survived by his wife, Connie James Weaver; Son, Lorne Mills of Phoenix; Belle-daughter, Katie Moore of Los Angeles; Brother, Barton Weaver (Ella) by Bossier City, Louisiana; sister, Karen Singleton (don) by Memphis; Hayden Weaver, Kirk Weaver, Lindsey Shelton and Becky Aston; sister-in-law, Sharon James Grubbs (Don); And his beloved dogs, Bubba and Leon.

Commemorative monuments in honor of Weaver can be made to Alive Hospice de Nashville Or Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue. A private memorial will be scheduled later.
