Premiere ‘Prom’

Opera in the Ozarks

Opera in the Ozarks marks its 75th anniversary at Inspiration Point Center for the Arts16311 US 62 West, five miles west of Eureka Springs, with the great opening of a new 300 -seat theater and a summer season which includes three fully staged and costumed opera productions.

The season begins with a performance of 19:30 on June 27 of “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, with additional performances in the repertoire, 7:30 p.m. on 2, 11, 14, 14, 19 and 25 and July 3.

The rest of the range:

◼️ Stephen Sondheim “Into the Woods”, 7:30 pm 28 June, 3, 7, 9, 18 and 23; July 3:13 p.m.

◼️ Franz Lehár “The Merry Widow”, 7:30 pm 1er, 5, 8, 12, 15 and 24; July 3:20 p.m.

The calendar includes performance and other musical events, in particular:

◼️ more than a dozen free performances of “The Bremen Musicians Town” by John Davies, with Opera in the artists of the Ozarks studio, in places in the northwest of Arkansas, including libraries and community centers

◼️ A Chamber Music Concert of July 21 at Inspiration Point

The productions have around 40 professional singers and instrumentalists across the country for the annual training and production calendar.

The financing of the new theater, which had its official opening on Saturday, comes from a subsidy of $ 34 million from the Walton Family Foundation; The new installations include an extended rehearsal room, production stores, practice rooms and teachers’ accommodation.

Animated museum

It’s a busy weekend at Rogers Historical Museum, 313 and 322 S. Second St. to Cherry Street, Rogers.

The museum holds its Annual family day10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, with farm animals, children’s crafts, a shortpoint show, model trains, facial painting, Victorian garden of Vera and tours of butterflies and a touch of firefighters. The craftsmen of the region will demonstrate wood sculpture, blacksmith, rotation and weaving. Family food options available on site. Entrance is free.

In collaboration with the festivities, the museum hosts a courtyard of Patchwork, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in its key education center. The show offers more than 50 modern shortpoints made by talented members of the Northwest Arkansas Modern Quilt Guild, who sponsors him. Entrance is free.

Subsequently, the museum marks its 50th anniversary with a “summer pleasure at the museum”, 45 -minute craft manufacturing sessions and history lessons, at 9, 10 a.m. and 11:17 am and 19 and July 19 and 15.

Ceramic workshop

Pine Bluff’s artx3 campus Organize a ceramic workshop in two parts and handcrafted, from noon to 3 p.m. on June 14 and 28, in hand artspace, 623 S. Main St., Pine Bluff. Instructor Debbie Phillips will teach essential techniques, in particular rolled up, the construction of slabs and sculpture, to create a unique, functional and decorative pottery.
