Liz Izhikevich, assistant professor of electrical engineering and computer engineering at the UCLA Samueli engineering school, was appointed to 2025 Forbes 30 List of under 30 In the scientific category.
Izhikevich has been recognized for its research on improving internet performance and safety – both on earth and space. His work has discovered unknown threats previously unknown for many types of internet activities – related to confidentiality, data and trade, as examples – and has enabled researchers to identify performance problems. Thanks to its efforts, Netflix improves video delivery for more than a million satellite broadband users.
In Ucla, Izhikevich directs the Safety and networking laboratory, which works on the construction of systems that collect data on network behavior – and their users and pirates – and taking advantage of quantitative analysis to find almost real operational challenges and threats. She is also a researcher at the Software Security Company Censys.
Before joining UCLA Samueli in July 2024, and during the last year of her computer science studies at Stanford University, Izhikevich was a researcher in Netflix, where she worked in collaboration with Starlink de Spacex to improve the quality of the streaming of the International Satellite. She obtained her baccalaureate and computer control diplomas from UC San Diego.
Izhikevich is among 46 Forbes 30 Under 30 winners with UC connections. Previous recipients include UCLA’s assistant teachers in computer science Aditya Grover and Saadia Gabriel, who were both appointed to the scientific list of 2024.
Published each year, the magazine’s list presents innovators and visionaries in a wide range of disciplines, every 30 years.
