The European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) is a key step to boost the transition to a climate-neutral energy system through the development of low-carbon technologies in a rapid and cost-competitive manner. Created in 2007 and since the creation of the Energy Union in 2015, it has become one of the main instruments of the 5th pillar of the Energy Union on research, innovation and competitiveness.
THE Communication on the revision of the SET Planadopted in October 2023, will help harmonize the initial strategic objectives with the European Green Deal, REPowerEU and the Green Deal industrial plan, notably the Net-Zero Industry Act. It will ensure a unified approach to achieving the EU’s decarbonisation targets, supporting strategic net-zero energy technologies and building a sustainable and resilient energy future.
Join us for an informative session with experts from the European Commission (DG ENER, DG RTD and JRC) who will present:
- An overview and objectives of the SET Plan
- The various Implementation Working Groups (IWG) and the European Technology and Innovation Platforms (ETIP)
- The structure of cross-functional tasks with a focus on market access
- The revision of the SET Plan
- Financing instruments to support the deployment of SET Plan technologies
