The Lethbridge police said that the research and rescue teams had recovered the body of a 17 -year -old boy who drowned on Wednesday evening in the Oldman river.
The teenager was trying to swim across the river near the top bridge, they said.
The police said that members of the Lethbridge water rescue team and emergency services had located the boy’s body around 9 a.m. Thursday in the region where it was last seen.

The body will now be transported to the Alberta medical examiner’s office in Calgary for an autopsy, although the police said that there was no evidence suggesting that the unfair game was involved in death.
The research, which involved members of the Lethbridge police forces, the Lethbridge fire service and the research and rescue of the Lethbridge region, was launched on Wednesday evening but was temporarily suspended when it became too dark to continue.
