Leon Draisaitl scored on the power game in overtime, Stuart Skinner made 29 stops and the EDMONTON OILERS have erased a multi-foster deficit to beat the reigning champion Florida Panthers 4-3 in match 1 of the final match of the Stanley Cup on Wednesday evening.
“So many good things,” said Connor McDavid speaking of Draisaitl game after the match. “Tipping, playing, you call it, he does. He does not have enough respect or credit for his defensive capacities. When he is dug, there is not much better, perhaps no one.”
After the penalty of Tomas Nosek for having put the puck on the glass, the goal of Draisaitl 19:29 in OT sent fans to the house in a frenzy and made sure that the oilers would not start this series as they did a year ago, when they fell behind three games to any.
“You are looking to finish it,” said Draisaitl after the match winner of the match. “It’s a special feeling. It’s great at the moment, but we have to look to the future and prepare for the second game.”
For a while, it seemed to start hanging out at least. The goal of Draisaitl 66 seconds was later followed in the first period by Sam Bennett tasting a shot in the past Stuart Skinner after having fallen into him.
