Marine experts abandoned the hope of saving more than 150 False killer are blocked on an isolated beach on the island state of Australia, Tasmania, officials announced on Wednesday.

Experts whose veterinarians were on the scene near the Arthur river on the northwest coast of Tasmania where 157 whales were discovered on a surf beach exhibited on Tuesday afternoon, said the Ministry of Natural Resources and the environment.

The unfavorable conditions of the ocean and the weather, which prevented the whales from being saved on Wednesday, were to persist for days, said Shelley Graham, an incident controller.

“We went to the water this morning and moved and tried to give up two whales, but we did not succeed because the conditions of the ocean did not allow animals to take the break. Animals are continuously limited, ”Graham said in a statement.

Marine biologist Kris Carlyon said the survivors would be euthanized.

“The more these animals are blocked, the longer they suffer. All alternative options have failed, “said Carlyon.

The department said there were 136 survivors on Wednesday morning, but that this assessment had been revised at 90 in a few hours.

The inaccessibility of the beach, the conditions of the ocean and the challenges to bring equipment specialized in the distant area complicated the answer.

The young whales weighed as little as 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds), while adults weighed three metric tonnes (3.3 American tonnes). Despite their name, false killers are one of the biggest members of the Dolphin family.

The department’s liaison officer, Brendon Clark, said that stranding was the first by fake tasmania killers since 1974. It was a nacelle of more than 160 whales that landed on a beach near Stanley on the northwest coast. Tasmania shutters are generally pilot whales.

Clark refused to speculate on the reasons why the last pod could have been failed. Dead whale carcasses would be examined for clues, he said.

Tuesday afternoon, a helicopter recognition determined that there were no other whales within 10 kilometers (6 miles) of the blocked pod, he said.

Some could have been blocked for 48 hours before Wednesday.

Arthur River resident Jocelyn Flint said her son had discovered the Wales stranded around midnight while fishing for the shark.

She said that she had gone to the scene in the dark hours of the morning and had returned after dawn, but the whales were too big to be bailed out.

“The water increased and they struggled. They die right, they fell into the sand, ”said Flint on Wednesday morning. “I think it’s too late.

“There are small babies. An end, there are many big ones. It’s sad, ”she added.

In 2022, 230 pilot whales were blocked further south on the west coast of the Macquarie port.

The largest mass interchange in Australian history occurred in the same port in 2020 when 470 driver whales in fiftezhes remained stuck on sand banks. Most failed whales died on the occasion of the two occasions.

The reasons for the ceilings are not clear. The reasons could include disorientation caused by strong noises, illness, old age, injuries, flight predators and bad weather.
