Doylestown Health Officially joined the health system of the University of Pennsylvania (UPHS) today, strengthening the common commitment of the two organizations to provide the most advanced, practical and most compassionate care to patients and families in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia.
The Health Managers and Health Employees of the Uphs and Doylestown celebrated the milestone during a public event today on the flagship campus of Doylestown Hospital, following magazines and approvals by the Pennsylvania Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission.
Doylestown Health and its affiliates will now be known as Penn Medicine Doylestown Health (PMDH).
The new integration Brought together one of the best academic health systems in the country, global renown for its clinical and research excellence, with a regional health system known for clinical excellence and high -quality compassionate care.
“The integration of Doylestown Health in Penn Medicine is a key element in our strategy to reinvent care,” said the CEO of the Uphs Kevin B. Mahoney. “Our objective is to transform health care into a source of ease and comfort – involving the provision of care, making it more accessible to patients and creating a transparent support experience and support for each stage. By combining the community care of trust with the resources and expertise available via Penn Medicine, we make sure that high quality and compassionate treatment is always at hand of Bucks County and Beyond. “
The Doylestown Hospital, founded over 100 years ago and located 30 miles north of Philadelphia, provides a wide range of hospital and ambulatory hospital care, including advanced surgical procedures, complete special services and well-being education programs. The Community Hospital of 245 beds has medical staff of 600 suppliers in more than 50 specialties.
“By joining Penn Medicine, we write the next chapter in our history that started over 100 years ago,” said PMDH CEO Jim Brexler. “The Doylestown Hospital was founded with the main mission of putting quality health care near us for the patients we serve, and I cannot think of any better way to do so than by joining the main academic health system in our region, which will allow patients in our community to receive even more advanced care options.”
As part of integration, two members of the PMDH board of directors will be appointed by Penn Medicine, and similarly, two administrators of Doylestown will join the Board of Directors of Penn Medicine.
Integration will be based on successful collaborations between the two organizations. These include Penn Radiation Oncology Doylestown, which has served more than 400 patients per year since its opening in 2011, and a decade participation of Doylestown Hospital in Penn Cancer Network, which offers patients extended to advanced treatments and clinical trials through the Abramson Cancer Center.
The Doylestown Hospital becomes the seventh Penn Medicine Hospital. In addition to its three philadelphia hospitals—The hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and the Pennsylvania – Upda Hospital of the County of Chèvre, Lancaster General Health and Princeton Health is part of the Uphs, having joined in 2013, 2015 and 2018, respectively.
Penn Medicine is one of the main university medical centers in the world, dedicated to the related missions of medical education, biomedical research, excellence in patient care and community services. The organization consists of the health system of the University of Pennsylvania (UPHS) and the School of Medicine Raymond and Ruth Perelman in Penn, founded in 1765 as the first school of medicine in the country.
