Agents speak of the AI industry – they are able to plan, reason and perform complex tasks such as meeting meetings, grocery command or even support for your computer to modify the parameters in your name.
But the same sophisticated capacities that make useful assistant agents also might make powerful tools to make cyber attacks. They could easily be used to identify vulnerable targets, divert their systems and steal precious data from without distrust victims.
Currently, cybercriminals do not deploy AI agents to hack on a large scale. But researchers have shown that agents are able to execute complex attacks, and cybersecurity experts warn that we should expect to start to see these types of attacks spreading in the real world – and soon.
