MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Preparations are moving forward for the upcoming New Year’s Eve Ball in Marquette.
Double Trouble Entertainment has been hosting this free event for years and the organizers are excited to continue the tradition.
This year, the family-friendly block party returns at 6 p.m. and the ball drops at 7 p.m. Katherine Marsh, director of operations and production for Double Trouble Entertainment, says it’s a great option for a safer community event.
She says the Ball Drop Bash starts around 10 or 10:30 p.m., and the classic New Year’s Ball Drop takes place at midnight.
“Marquette is very proud,” Marsh said. “The UP has a lot of pride, so why not bring all that pride and joy together to close out the year and celebrate everything this community has done?” So we love throwing the party, having this big celebration so everyone can enjoy it.
Marsh says the party wouldn’t be the same without sponsors donating fun glow sticks. She says there is also a new platform and configuration for the drop.
Marsh and his team will work 20 hours a day Tuesday to prepare for the special event.
She says the 100 block of West Washington will be blocked to traffic starting around 5:30 p.m.
