Kingsport, tenn. (Wcyb) – It is a rivalry like no other in this region – and although it is in all sports on Tuesday evening, it was revived on the football field.
For the first time in 2025, Dobyns -Bennett and Science Hill Boys Soccer would go to Kingsport on Tuesday – marking the next chapter of a match that has brought a ton of excitement over the years.
This is what it is in secondary football here, “said Tony Weaver, head coach of Dobyns-Bennett.” They always give us the best test that we could possibly pass. This allows us to know where you are for the year.
It is a difficult rivalry. No matter what happened in games before, it’s always exciting, “said head coach of Science Hill David Strickland.” It is a difficult battle from start to finish. This is generally summed up about a few moments from the game.
Indeed, it resisted a few moments on Tuesday evening. After a goalless first half, Dobyns-Bennett shot the first blood a little more than five minutes in the second half-but the toppers finished the work and won a late victory.
By equalizing the game with an equalizer in the 65th minute, it is Dylan Trull by putting the toppers in the 75th minute and by clinging to a dramatic victory.
For a district that has gone through each of these teams in recent years, it took four meetings a season that ended with the tribe drawing clean scan and a district crown – despite the toppers that continue in the state.
This time, it’s a whole new chapter.
Last year was last year. You have to continue next year, “added Weaver.” I know he has ready to play them and we are going to go out and see what we can do this year. It’s always great to play them.
Now the story of 2025 begins – and a meeting at the start of the season to show it.
It is a test to see where we are in the district. They have won the district for the past two years, “added Strickland.” They are the measure. So how do I get out and test against them? Can we get a good result?
Well, at the first meeting of the year, the answer was yes. Now, both parties are waiting for a second meeting at the end of the regular season in May.
