On 2-4 June 2025, The Department of Nutrition and Food Safety of the World Health Organization (WHO) organizes the WHO Discussions on food security health To mark the occasion of World Food Safety Day 2025 and explore the theme of this year campaign: Food security: Science in action.
The series of three webinaries will highlight the way in which science stimulates progress in food security, covering expert advice, estimation of the burden of food diseases, surveillance, laboratory systems and global collaboration and present leading votes from WHO and partners institutions.

This webinar will highlight four imperatives that argue to invest in data on foods of food origin: health, economics, environment and governance. Based on the recent work of the WHO Epidemiology Reference Group (Food Disease Burden Group (FERG), speakers will explore how burden -based decision -making estimates, strengthen surveillance systems and support sustainable action by science.
WHO alliance for food security: advance science in action

The webinar will explore how science can be used to strengthen food security systems, emphasizing the WHO alliance for food security efforts to promote improvement in food disease monitoring, defend a stronger laboratory capacity and support better generation and use of data. It will highlight the work of the three technical working groups of the Alliance, which aim to advance the integration of foods of food origin in national surveillance systems, to promote collaboration and capacity between laboratories and to improve the sharing and awareness of data.
