Girls & Stem event at Discovery World
Milwaukee – Today, they are girls, but in the future they could be rockets, mechanical engineers – even television meteorologists. Sunday, Discovery World organized a day focused on women designed to light the success.
Make fun learning

“Honestly, I really enjoyed geometry this year,” she said.
“There are so many different ways of being able to teach girls, and girls can learn Stem, apart from reading a book,” said Meghan Langmyer with Discovery World. “When you are practical with something, it’s almost like an alternative learning method.”

Langmyer helped organize the day filled with coding, robotics and more. There were even large bubbles to explain the surface tension.
“I hope, if something, they become curious, and they become confident in their curiosity, so they want to know more,” added Langmyer.
Women in Sciences
What they say:
The face -to -face exhibition is clearly influential.
“I love having a model to admire,” said eating. “It’s like,” Oh, I can take this here, and I can probably happen where you are today. “”

Despite the growing progress and interest over the past decade, women remain underrepresented in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Massachusetts Institute of Technology data show that women represent around 28% of the STEM workforce.
“I can go up and down the street and see construction equipment and parts on which my valves and the things I have done are,” said Kim Wollenberg. “It’s really cool to see how what I do and what I do applies to the real world.”
Wollenberg is an engineer working on major mechanical projects. She simplified her work for young minds.

“We teach them specifically hydraulics, also parts and assembly, and we excite them,” added Wollenberg.
The girls were at the center of the education day, but there was a lesson for everyone.
“Boys can learn a bit of everything. They can learn that their mother has power. They can learn that the field of engineering is fun, and it’s for everyone,” said Langmyer.
