The city of Regina found an temporary replacement of the municipal director Niki Anderson, who provided a leave of leave from April 29, 2025.
A special meeting of the municipal council took place on Wednesday to appoint the longtime municipal clerk Jim Nicol at the post in the foreseeable future.

During a closed -door session, the council spoke with the administration on the filling of administrative employment and then voted unanimously to move Nicol to the role.
Mayor Chad Bachynski said there was no other information to share on Anderson’s brutal leave because the question is personal.
Anderson joined the municipal director of Regina in 2022, after having already played management positions with the city of Edmonton and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services.
Jim Nicol will work as director of the interim city until further notice, and Amber Ackerman was appointed to serve as a city clerk while Nicol is far from his role
