In February, in a panel of comics held in Glendale, California, the chief publishers of Marvel and DC revealed that they have quietly assembled something that they had not succeeded for more than two decades: a cross event.
From time to time, going until 1976 with the arrival of Superman against The Amazing Spider-ManThe “The Big Two” comics are known to bring together their superhero titans for the kind of convergence whose bases of crossed pollinal fans want. The last time they did it was in 2003 when Jla / Avengers Launched a comic strip which took place the following year, but there has been no collaboration of this magnitude since.
“Many things have to line up,” said Dan Buckley, President of Marvel Entertainment Weekly entertainment. “Most of the time, we plan our editorial program far enough. DC does their schedule far enough. You want to have the right talent involved because with this type of thing, you want to raise it as much as possible to excite people.”
Jim LeeThe president, head of creation and publisher of DC Comics, echoes similar feelings in a separate cat on Zoom, noting how DC generally works two to three years in advance.
“It happens once at each generation of readers. I let you draw your own conclusions to explain why,” he comments. “The timing must be just in that you do not want to do them too often. You want them to feel special. It is in a way of this good time for the two companies to meet because it is complex. There is much more coordination, collaboration, but it must be done.
Time to reveal the next crossover is finally there … Deadpool, meets Batman.

“After writing Amazing Spider-Man For 60 numbers, I told Marvel that I needed a break: “Wells said to EW in a statement by email.” Marvel told me that I could do it or that I could write a comic strip with Deadpool and Batman with the best Batman artist of our generation. I no longer needed a break. In Batman, we found someone who has even less time for Deadpool’s buffoonery than Wolverine, but a threat on the city of Joker made strange bed companions (literally, if Deadpool had his way). It was an explosion to let deadpool detach in the city of Gotham and look at what is going on. “”
Capullo feels in the same way. “Do I dream? This crossover is probably the highest point of my career … and I had a great career,” added the artist by email. “Some of my first work (a lot Years ago) was on X-ForceSo Deadpool and I are going back. More recently, I spent more than 10 years drawing Batman at DC. The idea that I can make a cross event with Deadpool and Batman … If I dream, don’t wake up! “”
Whenever Buckley hears an idea of Zeb Wells, it is generally something that is just as funny, intelligent and sincere, says the best brass. “This is what I think of what he brings together now,” said Buckley. “And I know that Mr. Capullo will deliver to the shovel on emotional narration and all the action, because that is what he does every time he makes his story.”
