The Calgary police service said that a person died after an alleged carbon monoxide Poisoning in a house in the southwest section of the city.
Police said police had been called for the first time in a house in the 100 block of Shawmeadows Crescent SW around noon on Tuesday to make a wellness check.

They said that a woman and a child were found at home. The woman was unconscious and was transported to the hospital where she died later.
Police said the child had been transported to the Children’s Hospital in Alberta in critical condition, but should survive.

A Calgary fire manager said carbon monoxide levels were raised due to a furnace.
Police said they had tried that the death was not a criminal.
Carol Henke, spokesperson for the CFD, said that the incident was the second carbon monoxide call that emergency stakeholders had recently received.
A man and a child were transported to hospital last week after a vehicle was left for hours in the attached garage of a house.
“It’s just such a tragedy,” said Henke about the last death.
“The really frightening thing about carbon monoxide is only to have an alarm of work in your home, you will not know that you have a carbon monoxide problem.”
Henke said Calgarians should be particularly vigilant on cold days when ovens and cars have overtime.
