“Recent storm snow covers a small structure of snowpack and has produced many very large avalanches in the past two weeks. The avalanches triggered on this layer have largely spread, even through wooded areas, and can involve the total depth of the snowpack,” said the warning.
“There have been several serious avalanche incidents at that time, including two fatal incidents. The activity of the natural avalanche begins to decrease, but the snowpack remains ready for human trigger.”

Avalanche Canada added that the slides could be triggered remotely, which means that they could be initiated at a distance.

Warming, sun and stormy time should also increase the risk.
“The weak layers, mainly composed of faceted snow, are buried under 90 cm of storm snow, with up to 15 cm more expected by the weekend,” added the warning.
“This snow will add to the slabs on the weak layers, perpetuating an unstable and very volatile situation.”
Avalanche Canada said that anyone venturing into the hinterland should be attentive to dangerous conditions and stick to low-angle land without air dangers or land traps.
Anyone who ventures into the hinterland should check the forecasts in his region, have an appropriate education, transport the right rescue equipment and know how to use it.
