Upland, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – Crozer Health is on life support. The largest hospital system in the county of Delaware could start to close on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, its owner, Prospect Medical Holdings, told a judge that he needed $ 9 million at 4 p.m. Wednesday or that he would start to close.
Negotiations have been underway for weeks to keep Crozer Chester Medical Center in Chester and Taylor Hospital in Ridley Open.
Although these meetings take place and Crozer’s fate remains uncertain, doctors, nurses and staff continue to present themselves, hoping that something will work.
Officials are not optimistic at this stage.
“A judge ordered a last attempt to try to solve this problem. There is a meeting at 9 am (Wednesday)). At this stage, unfortunately, I have no hope, “said Leanne Krueger, representative of the State of the 161st district of the county of Delaware.
The officials of Prospect Medical Holdings appeared before a bankrupt court in Texas on Tuesday afternoon.
“They told the judge that they would need wired money on the receiver’s account before 4:00 p.m. (Wednesday))Or they will start with the closure procedure, “noted Krueger.
Closing procedure that managers say news to the action they have not yet received.
The county of Delaware is ready to publish an emergency declaration in the event of a closure request.
“There have been negotiations on an asset purchase agreement, but I heard sources that the perspective essentially exploded the agreement with unreasonable requests,” said Krueger.
In recent months, $ 40 million has been invested to keep the system open and avoid closure.
Kate Denney is paramedical at Crozer Chester Medical, and her work is at stake.
“My concern is certainly for residents. Crozer serves more than 51% of the county of Delaware, which means paramedical paramedics. If we stop, this will have serious consequences in the county,” said Denney.
Managers say that job loss, a gap in the treatment easily available and pressure on other local hospitals are at stake.
“The judge and the GA office, they congratulated the worker staff who continued to run for work and very difficult circumstances. Prospect has installed a roadblock after all the efforts to save, I fear that we are not time,” said Krueger.
