Andersonville – A popular male product store in Andersonville is closing next week – but maybe just temporarily.

The co-founders Matthew Buccilla and Greg Lanier of Cowboys and Astronauts, 1478 W. Summerdale Ave., are go by the company They opened in November 2017, they told Block Club. The last day of the store will take place on March 6, said Buccilla.

The store sells everything, from clothing and accessories for men to grooming products and bartender tools. There are also a multitude of products on the theme of the national park, in particular candlesInspired by Buccilla’s love for national parks and the childhood dream of being a forest ranger, he said.

Buccilla said he was thinking of going back from the business for some time and said that it was ultimately the next step for him and Lanier, who are both business and life partners. The couple previously lived in Andersonville, but moved near the Indiana dunes national park during the Covid-19 pandemic to be closer to nature, said Buccilla.

“I was torn with traction, for me in particular, in the woods,” said Buccilla. “This is where our house will find us, and that’s where Greg is also full of time.”

The store will end after March 6, but Buccilla and Lanier turn off the palpors to see if entrepreneurs are interested in buying the business and reopening it, they said.

Cowboys and astronauts “mean a lot for us, and we recognize that it means a lot for many people,” said Lanier. “We believe in Andersonville, and we believe in the store, and we would like to see him continue if possible in his current form.”

Andersonville was one of the first districts that Buccilla visited in Chicago before moving here, he said. He moved to the city after he and Lanier came out long distance for a short time, and finally opened cowboys and astronauts, he said.

“It was something that I wanted to do for a very long time, and Greg supported this,” said Buccilla. “We essentially wanted to create a store – a shop and an experience, if you want – that we wanted to be and that we wanted our friends and neighbors to be.”

Anyone with serious requests on taking over the business should contact Lanier and Buccilla at hello@cowboysandastronauts.com.
