A couple in Kentville, in the NS, is looking for responsibility after their basement was flooded following a main break on their street.
Heather Kroezen and his partner live at home and have tenants in the basement.
They were woken up just before midnight on January 23 by their tenants, who told them that their suite was flooded with water.
“I panicked because we have two ladies who are here with disabilities. So I wonder what I’m going to do with them. Where are they going to go? said Kroezen.

The couple immediately called the city to repair what was identified as a main break of water. However, even after the repair, it did not stop the flood of water.
The house is right in front of a large ditch where the water had collected before traveling through an abandoned pumice which takes place directly under their property.
“It’s probably rotten. It’s very old, so it is probably before the building is done, so the water goes into the pumice and around the pumice and just through the ground under the parking lot, “said Kroezen.
But now the question remains – which will cover the cost of repairs?
Kentville CAD explains that the city does not have the abandoned ponceau and is therefore not responsible for damage.
Kroezen has since learned that the ponceau belongs to the province.
“There is absolutely no way that we can afford it. But the greatest number is that it is not even about us, these are those who have been moved. They no longer have a house now, ”said Kroezen.
