The fallout from President Donald Trump New aggressive prices Has prompted Congress to action, an increasing number of Republicans joining the Democrats to express their interest in using their power to hold it back.
1 and 1 Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, presented a bill with Senator Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., Who would reaffirm the authority of the Congress and slam the restrictions on the power of the president to take prices.
Senator Thom Tillis, RN.C., congratulated Grassley for the bill because “he believes that we are a coequal branch”. He said he would vote for this, although he was not clear if the bill would be brought to the Senate.
2 This decision was made after four Senate Republicans delivered a rare reprimand to Trump on Wednesday evening, joining each democrat to adopt a measure to revoke their prices in Canada. Senator Tim Kaine, D-VA., The author of the resolution, said that he was trying to rely on this success with more invoices to block Trump’s prices.
He said that “much more” than four Republicans were interested in its resolution than to vote ultimately for this, predicting that more will come on board “while economic reality settles”.
3 and 3 On the other side of the Capitol, democrats in the senior chamber said they were looking to adopt a resolution interrupting Canadian prices, similar to what the Senate voted this week. Given President Mike Johnson, R-La., Has reluctant to show any light of day with Trump, the Democrats explore an end of the head around the leaders of the GOP in the Chamber.
Representative Gregory Meeks, DN.Y., said that he would deposit what is called an exit petition, a legislative tool that would allow supporters to bypass the leaders of the GOP and to force a vote on the legislation if they could obtain 218 signatures. At least a moderate republican, the representative Don Bacon of Nebraska, said that he would plan to support him.
